Everybody likes to look at pictures. Imagine reading a magazine with only text. It would be very boring. Graphical images can add some zip to your site as well as give it a bit of flavor.
There are several types of graphics you should consider. First, there is clipart (see image at right). Some of these are wonderful and can add a lot to your website. On the other hand, sometimes clipart can be pretty bad and can be a distraction.
The page link buttons on this site are another form of a graphical image. These buttons were created in Microsoft PhotoDraw. And the small sncwebnet.com logo that is just above the vertical page link buttons is another type of graphical image. Plain text can also be turned into a graphical image and they will stay static despite browser text settings.
Quality photographs, if well done, can also add a lot to your website. They can be large enough to see on your individual web pages (see photo of the Gray Jay below) or they can be smaller photo-icons that open a new page when they are clicked.
Personally, I like the photo-icons better. They are quicker to load because of the smaller file size. Larger photographs can add longer download times because of their larger file size. If the user wants to see them larger, they can click on the photo-icons and then see them full size.
The header photo portion on this website, the gray mountain photo with the white SNCwebdesign.com text, is another type of graphical image. This one is unique as it is a photo with text writen over it. It started as a color photo and then was turned into a black and white image with the text on top.
Any photograph, clipart or other graphical image can be just displayed or can be clicked-on to go to another website or page. These links can be internal (within your site) or external (outside your site). HTML code provides unlimited boundaries.
Any photographs or clip art that you would like to put in your website should be sent to me for inclusion. These photographs, clip art, or logos should be used with permission of the photographer or clip art and logo author. You are responsible to verify that you have this permission.
Ultimately, what graphics you choose to use is up to you. You can supply me with your own photographs, clipart or logos or I can do this for you if that is desired. I have thousands of clip art images and a huge inventory of quality photographs. For specific projects, I can take some photographs or create clipart and logos for your website.
