Photography
All photographs were taken with a 35mm Canon AT1 single reflex camera. I use a Soligor 28mm wide-angle lens, a Canon 50mm lens, a Tokina 35-105mm zoom lens and a Tamron 80-210mm zoom lens. We used mostly Kodak Kodachrome slide film until August 2002, but now use Kodak Elite-Chrome (Ekta-Chrome) slide film as the development turn-around time is a day versus a week with Kodachrome. I was recently told that only 2 states permit using the chemicals needed to develop Kodachrome.
Scanning / Image Prep
Images are then scanned with a Hewlett Packard S20 35mm Slide and Negative Scanner in TIFF format at up to 2,400 dpi. Microsoft PhotoDraw software converts these images to Photodraw format for the cards and calendars or to JPEG format for use on the Web.
Printing
The digitized images are then inserted in a Microsoft Word document and printed on a Hewlett Packard Deskjet 1220CSE color printer at 1,200 dpi. The black text on each card was printed before the color images with a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 2100 printer at 1,200 dpi.
